The SUMITOMO 19RB384 is a solid carbide coated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, this insert carries the WNMG432ENG designation with grade AC830P, a CVD-coated carbide grade engineered for moderate wear resistance and toughness. The W-shaped trigon geometry provides an 80-degree included angle with a negative rake and negative side clearance, offering a robust cutting edge well suited to roughing and medium machining passes. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches and the corner radius is 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch), giving machinists a sharp, controlled entry into the workpiece.
This insert is intended for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces, covering primary material codes P and M. The ENG chip breaker geometry supports both roughing and medium machining operations, making it a practical choice for high-material-removal passes as well as general turning cycles in production shops. The AC830P grade is rated for universal secondary workpiece applications, extending its usefulness across a range of job shop and production environments. Machinists working with ISO material groups P and M will find this insert a capable general-purpose option in the TN series lineup.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for WNMG432 ANSI-compatible and WNMG080402 ISO-compatible turning toolholders that accept clamp or pin holding methods with negative rake seating. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert thickness clearance before installation.
Turning inserts of this type are seated and secured by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down the machine and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamping force. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
