Product Description

The SUMITOMO 19R5336 is a CNMG433EGU grade AC6020M solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on stainless steel workpieces. It carries a CVD-applied Absotech Platinum coating that delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well suited for both light and medium machining passes. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a negative rake angle, and a neutral hand orientation. The EGU chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a range of feed and depth-of-cut conditions. Insert thickness is 0.1875 inches and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.5 inches.

This insert is intended for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes where stainless steel stock — including austenitic and duplex grades — is the primary workpiece material. The negative side clearance and CNMG-style seating make it compatible with standard negative-geometry toolholders that accept pin or screw clamping. It is appropriate for production environments requiring consistent tool life on corrosion-resistant alloys. Material grade classification is M20, placing it in the mid-range of the ISO M (stainless steel) application spectrum.

Key Features

  • AC6020M grade with CVD Absotech Platinum coating for high wear resistance on stainless steel
  • EGU chip breaker supports light and medium machining operations
  • 80-degree diamond (C-shape) insert geometry with negative rake and negative side clearance
  • Neutral hand orientation fits left- and right-hand toolholder setups
  • Pin and screw compatible insert holding for rigid seating in standard CNMG pockets
  • Conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG433 and ISO 13399 standards

Compatibility

Designed for standard negative-geometry CNMG toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch inscribed circle insert with pin or screw clamping. ANSI size code 433, ISO size code 120412. Compatible with toolholder pockets rated for CNMG120412 inserts per ISO 13399.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and verify the clamping pin or screw is torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specification before resuming cuts. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris prior to indexing or replacing the insert, as contamination can cause premature edge failure or dimensional inaccuracy. Follow the machine tool builder and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for maximum depth of cut and feed rate within the M20 application range.
