Product Description

The SUMITOMO 19QKAFI is a CNMG432EMU-style indexable turning insert with a YB100 manufacturer grade and an Al2O3 CVD coating. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative side clearance and a positive rake angle of 4 degrees, making it well suited for controlled-depth finishing and medium turning passes. The 0.5 inch inscribed circle and 0.0313 inch corner radius are sized to ANSI code 432 and ISO code CNMG120408. Solid carbide construction with the Al2O3 coating delivers high wear resistance across a range of cutting conditions. Certified to both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, this insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.

The 19QKAFI is designed for turning operations on steel (ISO P workpiece class) and cast iron (ISO K workpiece class). The EMU chip breaker geometry supports light to medium machining passes, making this insert a practical choice for external and internal turning on CNC lathes and manual engine lathes where consistent chip control and surface finish are priorities. The YB100 grade is characterized by high to moderate wear resistance combined with moderate toughness, which allows it to perform across varying feed and depth-of-cut combinations without rapid edge breakdown.

Key Features

  • YB100 grade Al2O3 CVD-coated solid carbide for extended tool life on steel and cast iron
  • 80-degree diamond (CNMG) insert shape with negative side clearance and positive rake for efficient cutting forces
  • EMU chip breaker geometry rated for light and medium machining operations
  • ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO code CNMG120408 for broad holder compatibility
  • Neutral hand orientation — usable in left- or right-hand tooling setups
  • Compatible with clamp and pin insert holding methods

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for CNMG432 ANSI and CNMG120408 ISO toolholders that accept clamp or pin retention. Verify holder specifications before ordering to confirm seat geometry and clearance angle match.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician on a powered-off, locked-out lathe or turning center. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and secure with the appropriate clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer instructions before resuming spindle operation. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as a contaminated pocket can crack carbide. Follow the machine tool builder and toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for clamp screws — do not use impact drivers.
