The SUMITOMO 19PWBPT is a TCMT-style triangular turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a 60-degree included angle, a manufacturer grade of AC630M, and an Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) CVD coating that provides thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The ESU chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle of 8 degrees promote free-cutting action and efficient chip evacuation. This insert is held in place via screw clamping and is intended for professional machinists and tool-and-die shops running medium to finishing passes.
This insert is suited for turning applications on stainless steel workpieces, as indicated by the secondary workpiece material code M. The ESU chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation at moderate feed rates and depths of cut typical in finishing and semi-finishing operations. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard TCMT toolholders. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver for the insert clamping screw to ensure proper seating without damaging the insert or pocket. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or wear before inserting; a damaged pocket will cause premature insert failure and dimensional inaccuracy.
