The SUMITOMO 19PWBPK is a solid carbide turning insert in the DC series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated by ANSI code DCMT32.51ESU and ISO code DCMT11T304N-SU, this insert carries the AC630M grade with an aluminum oxide (Al2O3) CVD coating. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, positive rake angle of 8 degrees, and 7-degree relief angle combine to deliver controlled chip formation during finishing and light machining operations. The ESU chip breaker geometry is engineered to manage chip flow and reduce built-up edge when cutting at lower depths of cut and feed rates.
This insert is optimized for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M), where moderate wear resistance and maintained toughness are critical. The AC630M grade targets applications where surface finish consistency and tool life predictability matter — including medical components, food-processing equipment, and fluid-handling parts commonly turned from 300-series and 400-series stainless alloys. Screw-type insert holding (hole diameter 0.1732 inches) makes it compatible with standard DCMT-style toolholders used by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder pocket geometry, clearance code C, and tolerance code M compliance before installation. Primary target workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO group M).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and all axes at rest. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and secure with the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the pocket for chips or debris before seating each new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque and seating guidelines for DCMT-style inserts.
