The SUMITOMO 19PWBPD is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) via a CVD process and manufactured in grade AC630M, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability suited for continuous and light interrupted cuts. The diamond-shaped cutting geometry features an 80-degree included angle, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and a positive rake angle of 8 degrees. The ESU chip breaker geometry controls chip flow and reduces cutting forces. At 0.252 inches in length with a 1/4 inch inscribed circle, this is a compact insert suited for finish and semi-finish turning passes. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians install and index these inserts as part of standard toolholder maintenance.
This insert is rated for use on stainless steel workpieces as a secondary workpiece material, making it appropriate for applications in aerospace, food processing, and industrial fabrication environments where austenitic or martensitic alloys are common. The AC630M grade spans material grades C5, C5A, C6, and C7, covering a range of steel and stainless steel cutting applications. The screw-in holding method and CCMT form factor make it compatible with standard CCMT-style toolholders used in production and jobbing shops. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both turning and boring bar applications where insert orientation is determined by the holder.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CCMT-style toolholders accepting CCMT21.52 (ANSI) or CCMT060208 (ISO) inserts. Rated for material grades C5, C5A, C6, and C7. Complies with ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures applied per OSHA and facility safety standards. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer specification to seat the clamping screw without overtightening. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate ranges published by SUMITOMO for grade AC630M in the applicable workpiece material.
