The SUMITOMO 19PWAPF is a WNMG 431 ESU series turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a CVD-applied aluminum oxide (Al2O3) coating and grade designation AC630M. It features a trigon (80-degree included angle) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius. The insert thickness is 0.1875 inches and the insert length measures 0.3425 inches. Designed for indexable turning toolholders, this insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators performing turning, facing, and profiling operations on metallic workpieces. The ESU chip breaker geometry and positive 13-degree rake angle support controlled chip flow and reduced cutting forces.
This insert is suited for turning operations on stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials where Al2O3 CVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection. It fits into clamp-and-pin style toolholders designed for WNMG 431 inserts and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes depending on feed and depth-of-cut selection. Typical applications include CNC lathe work in production and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and tool life are priorities. Material grades C5, C5A, C6, and C7 are supported, covering a range of ISO P, M, and K workpiece categories.
Designed for use in clamp-and-pin style indexable turning toolholders accepting WNMG 431 inserts. Compatible with material grades C5, C5A, C6, and C7. Suitable for stainless steel (ISO M code) workpiece materials. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 insert standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered off and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without over-torquing. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's guidelines for proper clamping method when using clamp-and-pin style holders.
