The SUMITOMO 19P7BUA is a CNMG432ELU indexable turning insert with an AC8025P manufacturer grade, designed for precision finishing operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert features a CVD coating over a solid carbide substrate and carries a negative rake, negative side clearance geometry. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, combined with the ELU chip breaker, promotes controlled chip flow and consistent surface finish during light to moderate finishing cuts. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, 0.1875 inch thickness, and a 0.0313 inch corner radius, this insert is sized to the ANSI 432 and ISO 120408 standard. It is installed with a clamp and pin holding method.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and conventional lathes performing finishing passes on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) components. The AC8025P grade delivers high wear resistance against steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness against cast iron, making it a practical choice for production shops running mixed material schedules. The ELU chip breaker geometry is optimized for low to moderate depths of cut and feed rates typical of finishing operations rather than roughing or interrupted cuts.
Designed for use in standard CNMG-style indexable turning toolholders accepting a 432 ANSI size code (ISO 120408) insert with clamp and pin retention. Confirm toolholder insert pocket geometry and chip breaker clearance before installation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and secure with the clamp and pin per the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines. Inspect the seating surface for chips or debris that could prevent flush contact and affect cutting geometry.
