The SUMITOMO 19P7BEW is a solid carbide CVD-coated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI insert code DNMG432 and ISO code DNMG150408, featuring a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative rake and neutral hand orientation. The AC8025P grade delivers high-to-moderate wear resistance when cutting steel and moderate wear resistance and toughness when cutting cast iron. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for light machining and finishing operations where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities.
This insert is suited for finishing and light machining passes on steel and cast iron workpieces in both production and job-shop turning environments. The ESX chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip flow at light depths of cut and moderate feed rates, making it appropriate for close-tolerance turning on parts where surface integrity matters. It is held using a clamp or pin mounting method and fits standard DNMG-style toolholders. The DN series designation follows ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, making it straightforward to cross-reference into existing tooling inventories.
Designed for use in standard DNMG-style turning toolholders that accept a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch insert thickness, and clamp or pin holding. Verify toolholder pocket geometry against ANSI insert code DNMG432 or ISO code DNMG150408 before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the correct clamp screw torque as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert for edge chipping after each indexing cycle and before returning the machine to production.
