The SUMITOMO 19P7337 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on steel workpieces. Carrying the ANSI designation WNMG432EGU and ISO code WNMG080408N-GU, this insert features an 80-degree trigon shape with a negative rake and neutral hand orientation. The AC8025P grade uses a CVD coating process to deliver wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.3425-inch insert length, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, the 19P7337 suits finishing and semi-finishing operations where edge geometry and surface finish consistency are critical. It is installed using a clamp and pin holding method.
This insert is intended for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing steel-cutting operations. The EGU chip breaker geometry is suited to applications requiring controlled chip flow on steel materials, particularly in medium to light cutting depths. The negative rake angle contributes to edge strength, making it appropriate for interrupted cuts or when machining harder steel grades. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments are the primary users of this insert type.
Designed for use in WNMG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp and pin holding. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, ensuring dimensional compatibility with compliant toolholder systems. Intended for steel workpiece materials per primary material code P.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing any insert. Verify the toolholder pocket and clamp pin are clean and free of chips before installing the insert to ensure proper seating and repeatable tool geometry. Do not exceed the chipbreaker and grade application range for the workpiece material — using this insert on materials outside the P-grade range may cause premature edge failure.
