The SUMITOMO 19HWW5T is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by ANSI code DCMT32.51ESU and ISO code DCMT11T304N-SU, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle of 8 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle (clearance code C). The AC520U manufacturer grade uses a PVD-applied Super ZX coating combining TiAlN and AlCrN layers for wear resistance and heat tolerance at the cutting edge. The ESU chip breaker geometry and neutral hand orientation support consistent chip control during turning operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible screw-lock toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning applications on stainless steel and superalloy workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes M and S. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes where a 1/64-inch corner radius provides a balance of edge strength and surface finish quality. The insert seats in screw-held toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per order.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for screw-lock toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts per ANSI and ISO 13399 specifications. Suitable for turning stainless steel and superalloy workpiece materials (ISO material codes M and S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the insert clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excess clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
