The SUMITOMO 19HWW5F is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation DCMT32.50.5ESU and ISO designation DCMT11T302N-SU, placing it in the DC series. The insert features a dual PVD coating — TiAlN and AlCrN — marketed under Sumitomo's Super ZX coating designation, which is engineered for heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting applications. The diamond (55-degree) insert shape, positive rake geometry, and ESU chip breaker make this insert well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations where chip control and surface finish are critical priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for turning applications involving stainless steel and superalloy workpiece materials (ISO material codes M and S). The positive rake angle of 8 degrees and 7-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces, making the insert a practical choice for thin-wall or difficult-to-machine components. It is held in the toolholder via screw clamping, consistent with standard DCMT-style toolholders. This insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use in DCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and superalloys (ISO material groups M and S). Confirm toolholder pocket specifications match DCMT32.50.5ESU geometry before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating the new insert.
