Product Description

The SUMITOMO 19HWW30 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT series, designed for precision lathe and turning center operations. Carrying the manufacturer grade AC520U with a PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCrN dual-layer coating marketed under the Super ZX designation, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features a diamond (C) shape with an 80-degree included angle, a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake angle of 8 degrees, and an 11-degree relief angle. The ESU chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip flow when machining difficult materials. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible CPMT-style toolholders on CNC lathes and turning centers.

This insert is intended for use on stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, and superalloy workpieces, covering ISO material codes M, P, and S. It is well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where close tolerances and surface finish quality are required. The ANSI code is CPMT21.51ESU and the ISO 13399 code is CPMT060204N-SU. The screw-holding method and positive rake geometry make it compatible with a wide range of standard CPMT-style screw-clamp toolholders used in production turning environments.

Key Features

  • AC520U grade solid carbide substrate with PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCrN Super ZX dual-layer coating for extended tool life on hard and abrasive materials
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with positive rake and 11-degree relief angle for clean, efficient cutting action
  • ESU chip breaker geometry designed to manage chip control on stainless steel, steel, and superalloy workpieces
  • Neutral hand orientation for flexible toolholder mounting configurations
  • Screw-clamp holding method with a hole diameter of 0.11 inches for secure seating in CPMT toolholders
  • Compliant with ANSI and ISO 13399 standards for tooling data interoperability

Compatibility

Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders. ANSI code CPMT21.51ESU and ISO code CPMT060204N-SU apply. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, steel, and superalloys (ISO material codes M, P, and S).

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or damage before installing a new insert.
