The SUMITOMO 19HW169 is a DNMG431EEX carbide turning insert finished with a TiAlN/AlCrN PVD multilayer coating under the proprietary Super ZX designation. It carries a manufacturer grade of AC520U and features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, the corner radius is 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch), and the insert thickness is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch). The EEX chip breaker geometry and a positive rake angle of 16 degrees make this insert well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders for precision turning operations.
This insert is designed for turning applications on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — workpiece material codes M and S. The positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces on heat-resistant alloys, while the TiAlN/AlCrN PVD coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. It fits standard DNMG-style clamp and pin toolholders and is appropriate for both production turning on CNC lathes and manual engine lathe work where surface finish and edge life on tough materials are the primary concerns. The ISO designation for this insert is DNMG150404N-EX.
Designed for use in DNMG-style clamp and pin toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. The ISO insert code is DNMG150404N-EX. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (M), superalloys (S), and titanium.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct clamp screw torque as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not rely on hand-feel alone, as under- or over-torquing affects edge security. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping pin for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
