The SUMITOMO 19HVAPA is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the CNMG432ESU geometry, this insert features a dual PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCrN under the proprietary Super ZX designation, delivering high heat resistance and edge durability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The diamond-shaped 80-degree insert carries a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake angle of 13 degrees, and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches. It is sized at 0.5079 inches in length with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and 0.1875-inch thickness. The AC510U grade and ESU chip breaker geometry make this insert well suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations on challenging materials.
This insert is engineered for turning applications in superalloy and titanium workpiece materials, classifications that correspond to ISO material group S. The ESU chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control at moderate to light depths of cut, making it a practical choice for aerospace components, medical implants, and industrial parts machined from heat-resistant alloys. It is held in the toolholder via a clamp and pin system standard to CNMG-style pockets. Licensed machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments will recognize the CNMG pocket as one of the most common insert interfaces in turning toolholders.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CNMG432 pocket toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. No specific OEM toolholder model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not over-torque the clamp, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamping force. Verify the insert seats flush in the pocket and that the chip breaker orientation matches the programmed cutting direction before resuming operation.
