The SUMITOMO 19HV171 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ANSI designation DNMG433EEX and ISO code DNMG150412N-EX, with a 55-degree diamond insert shape that delivers strong cutting geometry for demanding applications. The AC510U grade features a dual-layer PVD coating combining TiAlN and AlCrN under Sumitomo's Super ZX proprietary coating designation, providing high heat resistance and wear protection at the cutting edge. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake angle of 16 degrees, and an EEX chip breaker geometry suited to controlled chip evacuation in difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is specifically engineered for superalloy machining, making it a fit for aerospace, power generation, and industrial applications where nickel-based alloys, titanium, and heat-resistant materials are common workpiece materials. The DNMG form factor fits standard DNMG-style toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods, and the insert is available in multiples of 10 per order with one insert per package. It is used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments where consistent tool life and chip control in superalloy turning are critical.
Designed for use in DNMG-style toolholders accepting clamp and pin holding systems. Intended primary application is superalloy turning (Secondary Workpiece Material Code S). Verify toolholder pocket specifications against ANSI designation DNMG433EEX or ISO code DNMG150412N-EX before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
