The SUMITOMO 19DYW68 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning and finish machining operations. Carrying the ANSI insert code DCMT32.52 and ISO code DCMT11T308, this insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 8 degrees and a positive side clearance. The TiC coating is applied via a CVD process, delivering high wear resistance against steel (P-grade) and cast iron (K-grade) workpiece materials. At 0.4567 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this is a compact, purpose-built insert for finishing and light machining passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert type in standard screw-clamped toolholders.
The 19DYW68 is suited for finishing and light machining of steel and cast iron components on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Its ESU chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation at lower depths of cut and tighter tolerances, making it appropriate for production turning where surface finish and dimensional consistency are priorities. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible application in both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations where DCMT-style inserts are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for DCMT-style screw-clamped turning toolholders accepting ANSI size code 32.52 or ISO size code 11T308 inserts. Full ISO code: DCMT11T308N-SU.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to fasten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamp force. Verify seating and runout before resuming cutting operations.
