Carrying the G10E uncoated carbide grade, this insert operates with a positive rake geometry and a 10-degree rake angle, making it well suited for finishing and light interrupted cuts. The 35-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code V) concentrates cutting force on a narrow tip for accurate profiling. With a 1/64 inch corner radius and a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, it delivers clean surface finishes in tight-tolerance applications. This insert is primarily intended for turning cast iron workpieces, corresponding to material grade K and material grade designation C2. It is used in both production turning and job-shop environments where an uncoated carbide grade outperforms coated alternatives — particularly in abrasive, short-chip cast iron cuts where coating adhesion or thermal buildup is a concern. The EUP chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during finishing passes. Insert holding is achieved via clamp and pin methods standard to VNMG-compatible toolholders. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Dispose of worn inserts in accordance with local regulations for carbide tooling waste.
