The SUMITOMO 192QCAB is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG432EGZ geometry, coated via CVD with the AC405K grade and proprietary FF coating designation. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C), a neutral rake and hand orientation, and a 0.0313 inch corner radius. The EGZ chip breaker geometry is designed for controlled chip formation during turning operations. This insert is used in CNC lathe and turning center toolholders and is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in production or job-shop environments.
The 192QCAB is suited for turning applications involving cast iron and similar secondary workpiece materials where the AC405K CVD-coated carbide grade performs reliably. The CNMG style insert seats in compatible clamp-and-pin style toolholders. The inscribed circle measures 0.5000 inches, insert length is 0.5079 inches, and insert thickness is 0.1875 inches, placing it in the CN series size 432 family. This insert meets ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, with the ISO equivalent code CNMG120408N-GZ.
Designed for use in CNMG-style clamp-and-pin turning toolholders. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes cast iron (material code K). Verify toolholder insert pocket geometry, clearance angle, and size code 432 acceptance before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle locked out and all axes at a safe rest position per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without over-torquing the clamp or pin. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, debris, or damage before seating a new insert. Confirm correct insert orientation and chip breaker direction relative to the cutting direction before resuming operation.
