The SUMITOMO 16HQW67 is a Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) turning insert engineered for precision machining of non-ferrous metals. Cataloged under ANSI code NFVNMA332 and ISO code NF-VNMA160408, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral rake angle and a 0-degree relief angle. The DA1000 manufacturer grade PCD substrate delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for high-speed finishing passes on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpieces. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it is suited for light to medium material removal. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC programmers in production turning and toolroom environments.
This insert is designed for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers where non-ferrous metal finishing is the primary operation. The NF-VNMA insert style and Series V designation place it within a standardized toolholder family compatible with V-style pockets. The A-style chip breaker geometry and neutral rake configuration support consistent chip flow on materials such as aluminum alloys and non-ferrous composites. The uncoated PCD construction is appropriate for dry or light-coolant cutting conditions common in precision turning applications.
Designed for use with NF-VNMA series V-style turning toolholders that accept ANSI code NFVNMA332 inserts. Intended for primary use on non-ferrous metal workpieces. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping method before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and confirm the clamp and pin holding method is secure before resuming operation. Do not use this PCD insert on ferrous metals, as contact with iron-based materials can cause rapid degradation of the diamond cutting edge.
