The SUMITOMO 16HQFFL is a PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) milling insert designed for high-precision material removal in demanding cutting applications. Manufactured to ANSI code ANB1600R-G-DA1000, this insert carries the DA1000 manufacturer grade and features a bright, uncoated finish. It measures 0.1559 inches thick and 6.00 millimeters wide, with a maximum depth of cut of 3.00 millimeters. The single-sided ANB insert style with a G chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during milling operations. Machinists and tooling specialists working in aerospace, automotive, and precision manufacturing environments rely on PCD inserts like this for non-ferrous and composite material applications.
This insert is engineered for use in ALNEX cutter series tooling systems. It is suited for single-sided insert seating in compatible milling bodies and is appropriate for high-speed finishing and semi-finishing passes on non-ferrous metals, graphite, carbon fiber reinforced polymers, and similar abrasion-prone workpiece materials. The uncoated PCD substrate is selected where coating adhesion is unnecessary and sharp, consistent edge geometry is the priority. Insert size 1600 fits tooling bodies designed around the ANB 1600 pocket specification.
Designed for use with the ALNEX cutter series tooling bodies that accept the ANB 1600 insert pocket specification.
Installation of milling inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer — do not hand-tighten or over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert. Verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction match the intended cutting direction before resuming operation.
