The SUMITOMO 16GCW3N is a PCBN (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride) trigon turning insert engineered for hard-turning applications on steel and ferrous workpieces. It carries manufacturer grade BN350 and ships uncoated with a bright finish. The insert features an 80-degree included angle, a 1/2 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. Negative rake and negative side clearance geometry are suited to interrupted cuts and hardened materials. It uses a clamp and pin holding method, making it compatible with standard toolholders designed for WNGA-style inserts. Machinists and CNC lathe operators working in job shops or production environments are the primary installers.
