The SUMITOMO 16CDBCH is a Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) turning insert designed for precision machining of non-ferrous metals. Built to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, this uncoated triangular insert features a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The DA2200 grade PCD material provides exceptional hardness and wear resistance suited for high-speed finishing and semi-finishing passes on aluminum, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. It is held in place using a clamp and pin system and is compatible with positive-rake toolholders. Machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments will find this insert well-suited for tight-tolerance turning applications.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers handling non-ferrous metal components. The positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces, making it appropriate for thin-wall or chatter-sensitive workpieces.
