The SUMITOMO 16CDBAG is a Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on non-ferrous workpiece materials. Built to ANSI code NFDCMX32.50 and ISO code NF-DCMT11T301, this insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle and positive rake geometry. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert thickness is 0.1563 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0039 inches. It is held in place via a screw-clamp method and carries the DA2200 manufacturer grade with a coated finish. CNC machinists and tooling technicians install this insert in compatible turning tool holders for finishing and semi-finishing applications.
This insert is engineered for use on non-ferrous metals including aluminum, copper, and similar soft or abrasive materials where PCD tooling provides superior wear resistance and edge retention over carbide alternatives. It fits standard screw-lock turning tool holders sized to the DCMX insert style. The NF-DCMX32.50 geometry and X chip breaker designation make it well-suited for high-speed turning operations on CNC lathes in precision machining environments, including automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing applications.
Designed for use in screw-lock turning tool holders accepting the NF-DCMX insert style with a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Compatible with ANSI NFDCMX32.50 and ISO NF-DCMT11T301 tooling systems. Intended for primary use on non-ferrous metal workpieces.
This insert is installed by trained CNC machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate screw-clamp tool holder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the tool holder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and tool life.
