The SUMITOMO 14U1BBP is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in indexable face and shoulder milling cutters. It carries the ACK3000 manufacturer grade with an Absotech PVD coating, a process engineered to improve wear resistance and extend tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert follows the WNMU0807ZNER-G geometry, featuring a trigon (W-shape) profile, a 7.00 mm thickness, and a 1.60 mm corner radius. With six cutting edges and a double-sided configuration, this insert delivers a low cost-per-edge value suited to production milling environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metalcutting applications are the primary end users.
This insert is built for milling operations on steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, hardened materials, and heat-resistant superalloys, as indicated by its multi-material primary workpiece codes (P, M, K, N, H, S). The maximum depth of cut is 3.00 mm, making it appropriate for light to moderate engagement passes in face milling, shoulder milling, and profiling operations. It is compatible with the DMSW cutter series and accepts a screw-in insert holding method. The G chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across the supported material classes.

Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the crew-retained insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the cutter body manufacturer guidelines for insert torque and runout verification before resuming cutting operations.
