The SUMITOMO 14HD322 is a solid carbide coated milling insert designed for precision material removal in CNC milling applications. Manufactured to the ACK300 grade specification, this parallelogram-shaped insert features a PVD coating process and a right-hand cutting orientation. It measures 0.689 inches in cutting edge effective length, 0.402 inches wide, and 0.219 inches thick, with an 11-degree relief angle and an 85-degree included angle. A corner radius of 0.118 inches supports controlled chip formation. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install and index these inserts as part of routine tool maintenance on milling cutter bodies.
This insert is rated for a maximum depth of cut of 0.551 inches (14.00 mm) and is optimized for primary use in cast iron workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material grade code K. The ACK300 grade with PVD coating is suited to stable, medium-to-finish milling conditions where wear resistance and edge integrity are priorities. The G-style chip breaker geometry supports efficient chip evacuation during face and shoulder milling operations. This insert is compatible with the WEX3000 cutter series and carries an insert size code of 1235 with AXMT insert style designation.
Designed for use with the WEX3000 cutter series. Insert style is AXMT with insert size code 1235 and size designation 170530. Verify seat geometry and torque specification against the cutter body documentation before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement is performed by a CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and insert screw to secure the insert in the cutter pocket — do not over-tighten by feel. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid edge chipping prior to installation.
