The SUMITOMO 14EK325 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance material removal in metalworking applications. It features a parallelogram shape with an AXET insert style, a DL1000 manufacturer grade with a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating, and an 11-degree relief angle. The insert measures 0.689 inches in length, 0.402 inches in width, and 0.219 inches in thickness, with a cutting edge effective length of 17.54 mm. Its DLC coating provides wear resistance suited to non-ferrous cutting operations. Installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists, this insert seats into compatible milling cutter bodies and delivers consistent edge geometry for finish and semi-finish passes.
This insert is intended for milling operations on non-ferrous metals, corresponding to workpiece material code N. It is compatible with the WEX3000 cutter series and carries insert size code 1705 with a full size designation of 170508. Typical applications include face milling and shoulder milling on aluminum, copper, and other non-ferrous alloys in production machining environments. The parallelogram geometry and AXET style make it suitable for positive-rake cutter bodies where controlled chip formation is required.
Designed for use with the WEX3000 cutter series. Insert size code 1705, full designation 170508, AXET style. Thickness range 0.2000 to 0.2200 inches and length range 0.6500 to 0.7000 inches define acceptable seat tolerances in compatible cutter bodies.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the cutter body secured before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when torquing insert screws - do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and edge geometry.
