The SUMITOMO 14EK324 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in indexable milling cutters. It features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle and an AXET insert style. The insert carries SUMITOMO grade DL1000, which uses a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating process to deliver a coated finish suited for cutting non-ferrous metals. At 0.219 inches thick and 0.689 inches long, this is a right-hand insert with a corner radius of 0.016 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 17.54 mm. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working with milling tool assemblies.
This insert is intended for milling operations on non-ferrous metal workpieces, including aluminum, copper, and similar materials where a DLC-coated solid carbide edge delivers clean, low-friction cutting. The AXET style and insert size code 1705 place it in the WEX3000 cutter series compatibility group. Typical applications include face milling and shoulder milling in production machining environments, both job shop and production floor settings. The right-hand configuration determines the required cutter body orientation. Thickness falls within the 0.200 to 0.220 inch range and length within 0.650 to 0.700 inches, consistent with standard indexable insert seating tolerances.
