The SUMITOMO 10HWAEQ is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. It carries the CNGG432ESU geometry with the AC520U manufacturer grade and features a dual-layer PVD coating combining TiAlN and AlCrN, marketed under Sumitomo's Super ZX coating designation. The insert has a neutral hand orientation, an 80-degree diamond shape, a positive rake angle of 13 degrees, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. These characteristics make it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge sharpness and coating durability are critical. Installation is performed by licensed machining professionals or toolroom technicians working with compatible turning toolholders.
This insert is engineered for cutting stainless steel and superalloys, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes M and S. Its ESU chip breaker geometry and positive rake promote efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces on difficult-to-machine materials. The AC520U grade with PVD TiAlN and AlCrN coating delivers thermal stability and wear resistance needed when machining heat-resistant alloys at moderate to elevated cutting speeds. It fits into clamp and pin style toolholders designed for the CN series insert family. The ISO designation for this insert is CNGG120408N-SU, and it conforms to both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Designed for use with CN series clamp and pin style turning toolholders accepting CNGG geometry inserts. Primary workpiece material applications are stainless steel and superalloys (ISO material codes M and S).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down the machine and engage all safety locks before seating or changing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before installing. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seating procedure for CNGG-style inserts.
