The SUMITOMO 10HVW06 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNGG430ESU geometry, designed for precision external turning operations on difficult-to-machine materials. It carries the AC510U manufacturer grade and uses a PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCrN dual coating marketed under Sumitomo's Super ZX designation. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle of 13 degrees and a neutral hand orientation. With a 1/2-inch inscribed circle diameter and a corner radius of 0.0039 inches, it delivers tight tolerances in demanding cutting environments. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this consumable tooling component.
This insert is engineered for secondary workpiece materials classified as superalloys, making it applicable in aerospace, power generation, and industrial machining operations where nickel-based, cobalt-based, or titanium alloys are common. The ESU chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at the cutting zone. The insert fits standard CNGG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with a clamp-and-pin holding method. It conforms to ANSI code CNGG430ESU and ISO code CNGG120401N-SU per ISO 13399 standards, allowing straightforward cross-referencing with compatible toolholder systems.
Designed for use in CNGG-style turning toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp-and-pin holding. Conforms to ANSI code CNGG430ESU and ISO code CNGG120401N-SU. Intended for superalloy workpiece materials per secondary workpiece material code S.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Verify that the toolholder pocket and clamping components are clean and free of chips before inserting. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and do not reuse damaged or chipped inserts.
