The STIEBEL ELTRON STIEBEL-230628 is a point-of-use, tankless electric water heater designed for on-demand hot water delivery at individual fixtures. Operating at 12 kW on a 240-volt circuit (or 9 kW at 208 volts), it heats water instantaneously as it flows through the unit at a rated efficiency of 99%. There is no storage tank, which eliminates standby energy losses entirely. The compact European-style housing measures 14.19 inches tall, 7.875 inches wide, and 4.125 inches deep, making it practical to mount close to the point of use. A licensed plumber or qualified electrician installs the unit, and no venting is required.
This unit is rated for residential and commercial point-of-use sink applications including bathrooms, offices, stores, malls, warehouses, restaurants, and gas stations. It supports up to two sinks depending on incoming cold water temperature and flow rate. Under certain low-flow conditions it may also serve a single shower. The adjustable temperature range runs from 86 degrees F to 140 degrees F at 240 volts, and 86 degrees F to 125 degrees F at 208 volts, with electronic controls allowing the installer to dial in the target delivery temperature. The unit can be removed seasonally, making it a practical choice for cabins and cottages that are winterized annually.
Designed for point-of-use sink applications in residential and commercial settings where a dedicated tankless electric water heater serves up to two fixtures. Consult the DHC-E Sizing Guide to confirm model suitability for specific flow and temperature conditions.
Installation requires a licensed electrician for the electrical rough-in and a licensed plumber for the water connections. Shut off the water supply and de-energize the circuit at the breaker panel before beginning any work. A dedicated 50-amp breaker and 6 AWG wire are required for 240-volt service. Water connections use standard 0.5-inch fittings; follow all applicable local plumbing and electrical codes during installation.
