The STEWART FASTENER J1232ACHZ is a No. 12 x 2 inch Type A hex washer head tapping screw with a zinc plated finish, sold in a jar of 100. Type A tapping screws are designed to cut threads as they are driven into pre-drilled or punched holes in sheet metal, light-gauge steel, and similar materials. The hex washer head provides a built-in bearing surface that distributes clamping load and allows for fast, positive drive with a hex-head driver or nut driver. The zinc plating provides basic corrosion resistance for indoor and light-duty outdoor installations. These fasteners are a standard trade-supply item used by HVAC technicians, sheet metal fabricators, plumbers, and electricians for securing ductwork, panels, junction boxes, and equipment housings.
The J1232ACHZ is suited for light-gauge sheet metal applications where a self-tapping fastener is required. Common installation scenarios include HVAC ductwork assembly, electrical panel and enclosure fastening, plumbing equipment mounting brackets, and general sheet metal fabrication. The No. 12 diameter and 2 inch length make this screw appropriate for applications requiring a slightly longer grip than standard sheet metal screws while maintaining a compact head profile. Sold individually per the jar of 100 count.
Designed for use in light-gauge sheet metal, HVAC ductwork, electrical enclosures, and similar thin-material assemblies where a Type A self-tapping screw with a hex washer head is specified.
Installation is typically performed by HVAC technicians, sheet metal workers, electricians, or plumbers using a nut driver or hex-head bit driver. Always pre-drill or punch the correct pilot hole size as specified for No. 12 Type A tapping screws to avoid material distortion or fastener failure. De-energize or lock out any electrical equipment before fastening panels or enclosures. Do not overtighten, as excess torque can strip the self-tapped threads in thin sheet metal.
