The STEWART FASTENER 1705-3/8 is a 3/8-inch stubby high speed steel (HSS) drill bit designed for drilling in tight spaces where a standard-length bit cannot fit. The shortened shank and flute length give tradespeople better control and reduced flex when working in confined areas such as wall cavities, junction boxes, and mechanical chases. High speed steel construction provides the hardness and heat resistance needed for repetitive drilling through wood, light metal, and composite materials. Electricians, plumbers, and HVAC installers reach for stubby bits when clearance is limited and a right-angle drill or compact tool is in use.
This bit is suited for residential and light commercial trade work where access constraints are common. Typical applications include drilling through framing, electrical boxes, plumbing rough-in locations, and HVAC mounting points in confined spaces. The 3/8-inch diameter makes it a commonly specified size for conduit knockout pilots, anchor bolt holes, and general fastener clearance holes encountered in day-to-day trade installations.
Designed for use with standard 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch drill chucks. Fits right-angle drills, compact drills, and impact-rated drivers equipped with a keyed or keyless chuck accepting round-shank bits.
Install and remove drill bits only when the drill is powered off and the trigger is locked out. Secure the bit firmly in the chuck before drilling to prevent slippage. When drilling metal, use appropriate cutting fluid to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Wear eye protection at all times during drilling operations per standard jobsite safety requirements.
