The STERLING 55wkp8a-3 is a complete hydronic baseboard heating unit designed for residential hot water heating systems. Built in an 8-foot length with a 0.75-inch tube, this Kompak-series baseboard ships as a complete, ready-to-install assembly finished in classic white. It is engineered for low-profile installation where wall space is at a premium, making it a practical fit in finished rooms, under windows, and along exterior walls. The unit uses boxed and serrated aluminum fins to increase radiating surface area and direct convection airflow, improving heat output without increasing enclosure size. A fingertip temperature control damper with Silent Glide Shoe technology allows the heating element to expand and contract during thermal cycling without noise.
The 55wkp8a-3 is suited for residential hot water hydronic heating applications where a slim baseboard profile is required. The Kompak series is designed for standard residential installs, including single-family homes, condominiums, and multi-family units. Its low enclosure height makes it a common choice for rooms with limited wall space or where aesthetic integration with trim and cabinetry is a priority. Plumbing and heating contractors install this unit as part of a zone-controlled or series-loop hydronic system. Splice plates are included with the 8-foot length to allow field connections without additional hardware.
Designed as an OEM-style complete baseboard assembly for residential hydronic hot water heating systems using 0.75-inch element tubing.
Installation of hydronic baseboard heaters is typically performed by a licensed plumber or hydronic heating contractor. Shut off and drain the affected zone or loop before making any pipe connections. Follow local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) for hydronic system work. Do not overtighten compression or sweat fittings at the element connections, and verify that all air is bled from the system before restoring heat and checking for leaks.
