The STEINER 397-6X8 is a coated fiberglass welding blanket designed to protect personnel, equipment, and surrounding surfaces from weld spatter, sparks, and radiant heat during hot work operations. Measuring 6 feet high by 8 feet wide, this blanket is constructed from fiberglass material weighing 26 ounces per square yard and carries an FM Approved rating. It is rated for a constant maximum temperature of 1200 degrees F, making it suitable for most arc welding, cutting, and grinding applications found in industrial and commercial settings. Grommets along the side edge allow for quick hanging or securing to fixtures and barriers.
This welding blanket is suited for use in fabrication shops, pipefitting, HVAC mechanical rooms, and any jobsite where hot work is performed near combustible materials or finished surfaces. The black coated fiberglass construction resists burn-through and holds up to repeated exposure to weld spatter. Its 6-foot by 8-foot coverage area makes it practical as a hanging curtain or a laid-flat heat shield during routine service work. Welders, pipefitters, and ironworkers are the primary installers and users of this product.
Designed as a general-purpose welding blanket suitable for use in arc welding, plasma cutting, and grinding applications where spatter and spark containment or heat shielding is required.
This blanket is installed by welders, pipefitters, and other hot work tradespeople as a passive fire and heat barrier. Secure using the side grommets and appropriate hanging hardware rated for the expected heat exposure. Inspect the blanket before each use for burn-through, tears, or compromised areas that would reduce its protective coverage. Comply with applicable OSHA hot work permit requirements and local fire code when using welding blankets in occupied or sensitive areas.
