The STEINER 316-6X8 is a carbonized fiber welding blanket designed to protect personnel, equipment, and surrounding work areas from welding spatter, sparks, and radiant heat. Measuring 6 feet wide by 8 feet tall and ranging from 0.15 to 0.2 inches thick, this blanket is built for demanding fabrication and maintenance environments. The carbonized fiber construction weighs 16 ounces per square yard, delivering a balance of flexibility and thermal mass. It is rated for a maximum heat exposure of 1800 degrees F, with a continuous service temperature of 200 degrees F. Welders, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance technicians use this blanket as a standard weld curtain or drop blanket on the job site.
This welding blanket is suited for use in industrial fabrication shops, construction sites, and facility maintenance applications where hot work permits are required. Its 6 by 8 foot coverage area makes it practical for shielding adjacent equipment, flooring, and structural elements during arc welding, cutting, and grinding operations. The blanket meets FM standards, making it appropriate for use in environments with strict fire protection requirements. It is used as a barrier blanket, a heat shield draped over nearby materials, or laid flat as a ground cover beneath overhead welding work.

No special tools are required for positioning, but securing edges with clamps or magnets is common practice to prevent shifting during overhead or vertical work.
