The STARRETT EC799B-12/300 is a digital electronic caliper built for precision measurement in trade and industrial environments. It covers a range of 0 to 12 inches (300 mm) with a resolution of 0.0005 inches and an accuracy of 0.0010 inches. The beam, jaws, and body are constructed from hardened stainless steel, giving the tool durability in shop conditions where exposure to chips, coolant, and general wear is routine. Knife-edge jaws with a 2.5-inch jaw length allow measurement in tight or irregular profiles. A data output port enables direct connection to SPC software or data loggers for quality-control workflows. The unit ships with a CR2032 lithium battery and a protective carrying case.
The EC799B-12/300 is suited for outside diameter, inside diameter, depth, and step measurements. It fits residential and commercial trade applications wherever tight tolerances need to be confirmed in the field or on the bench — including HVAC fabrication, plumbing rough-in verification, machine-shop inspection, and general mechanical work. The knife-edge jaw style handles both standard and contoured workpieces. Thumb-wheel fine adjustment allows controlled positioning without overshooting the target dimension. Both inch and millimeter readouts are available given the dual-unit range of 0 to 12 inches and 0 to 300 mm.
Designed as a direct-use precision measurement tool in the EC799 series. Compatible with standard SPC data-output interfaces. Replacement battery is a CR2032 lithium coin cell, available from general supply sources.
No installation is required. Before use, verify the jaws close fully to zero and perform a zero-reset using the unit's zero button. Keep the measuring faces clean and free of burrs or debris before taking readings to avoid inaccurate results. The caliper is battery-powered and should be stored with the jaws slightly open to prevent jaw-face wear during storage.
