The STARRETT 72578 is an electronic inside hole micrometer set designed for precise internal bore and hole measurement in machine shop, toolroom, and production environments. The set covers a measurement range of 10 to 20mm (3/8 to 3/4 inch) without changing anvils and delivers a resolution of 0.001mm with an accuracy of 0.004mm (0.000150 inch). A friction thimble and precision ratchet stop ensure consistent contact pressure across measurements. The set includes 1 micrometer head, 3 anvils, and 2 setting rings. An IP65 ingress protection rating guards the instrument against coolant, water, dirt, and dust in demanding shop conditions. Instant inch/millimeter conversion and bi-directional data output are built in.
This set is suited for machinists, toolmakers, and quality control technicians who need reliable internal measurements in tight bores. The 62mm gage depth allows access to relatively deep features. The wide range covered by the included anvils reduces setup time when measuring multiple bore sizes within the 10 to 20mm window. Bi-directional communication capability supports integration with SPC data collection systems, making this set appropriate for both bench use and in-process quality inspection on the shop floor.
Designed as an OEM-style electronic inside micrometer set for internal bore measurement applications requiring IP65 protection and electronic data output in the 10 to 20mm range.
This instrument is used by machinists and quality technicians and does not require installation in the traditional sense. Prior to use, verify calibration against the included setting rings on a stable, vibration-free surface. Keep the measuring faces clean and free of chips or coolant residue before taking readings. Store in the provided case when not in use to protect the anvils and electronic components.
