The STARRETT 70802 is a tapered contact point designed for use with AGD dial indicators. Made from steel, this replacement tip threads into standard AGD indicator spindles using a 4-48 thread and extends 2 inches from the mounting point. The tapered profile allows access to recessed bores, grooves, and tight-clearance surfaces where a straight contact point cannot reach. The tip diameter measures 1/16 inch (1.59 mm). Machinists, tool-and-die makers, quality control technicians, and metrology professionals install these points as routine consumables or application-specific accessories on their indicator setups.
This contact point is suited for precision measurement tasks in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and inspection environments. The 4-48 thread is the standard AGD spindle thread, making this point compatible with a broad range of dial indicator bodies used in surface plate work, lathe and mill setups, and fixture-based inspection. The 2-inch contact length provides added reach for deep-bore or recessed feature measurement without requiring indicator repositioning.
Designed for use with AGD dial indicators that accept 4-48 threaded contact points.
Contact point replacement is performed by machinists and metrology technicians using standard open-end wrenches or contact-point wrenches appropriate for the indicator body. Remove the indicator from the fixture or gage stand before swapping contact points to avoid applying side load to the spindle. Thread the contact point in by hand until snug, then tighten lightly — overtightening can damage the spindle threads on the indicator body. Verify indicator zero and repeatability after any contact point change.
