The STARRETT 65628 is a carbide-tipped hole saw designed for cutting clean, accurate holes through a range of demanding materials. With a 2-1/2 inch saw diameter and a 1-5/8 inch cutting depth, it handles applications where standard bi-metal saws wear quickly or fail outright. The toothed cutting edge and constant pitch pattern deliver consistent chip evacuation and reduced vibration throughout the cut. This saw is sized for 2-inch pipe openings, making it a practical choice for plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians running pipe or conduit through walls, floors, and ceilings.
The 65628 is suited for use on fiberglass, Formica, masonry brick, MDF, plaster, and suspended flooring. These are the materials trades encounter most during rough-in and retrofit work — substrate types that quickly degrade lesser cutting tools. The 2-1/2 inch diameter is a common size for 2-inch pipe rough-in penetrations in residential and light commercial construction. The saw ships without an arbor, so a compatible arbor must be sourced separately before installation.
Designed for use on fiberglass, Formica, masonry brick, MDF, plaster, and suspended flooring. Compatible with 2-inch pipe rough-in applications. Requires a separately sourced hole saw arbor; this saw is not arbored.
Installation should be performed by a licensed tradesperson familiar with the material being cut. Secure the workpiece and ensure the drill is running at an appropriate speed for the material before engaging the saw. Always wear eye and respiratory protection when cutting masonry, MDF, or fiberglass, as these materials produce fine particulate. Since this saw is non-arbored, confirm arbor compatibility before beginning work.
