This flat stock is held to tight tolerances: plus or minus 0.001 inches on thickness and squareness, plus 0.000 to 0.015 inches on width, and plus 0.25 inches on length. This flat stock is suited for tool and die shops, production machining operations, and maintenance toolrooms in both industrial and commercial settings. Cutting, grinding, and machining of tool steel flat stock should be performed by qualified machinists or toolmakers using appropriate tooling for hardened or semi-hardened steel. Follow standard shop safety practices including eye protection and proper workholding when sawing or milling. Heat treating should be performed according to AISI A2 specifications by a qualified heat treat facility; do not attempt to harden without proper equipment and process controls. Allow material to reach ambient temperature before performing finish grinding or final tolerance work.
