The STARRETT 56977 is an O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat stock bar sized at 0.25 inches thick, 1.75 inches wide, and 18 inches long. O1 tool steel is a general-purpose, oil-hardening grade known for good machinability in the annealed state and consistent response to heat treatment. This flat stock is used by machinists, toolmakers, and die makers to fabricate punches, dies, gauges, cutting tools, and other precision tooling components. Thickness and width tolerances are held to +0.010 to +0.015 inches, and edge squareness is controlled to 0.003 inches per inch, supporting close-tolerance layout and machining work.

This flat stock is suited for tool-and-die shops, maintenance departments, and job shops requiring a reliably sized, readily heat-treatable steel blank. Typical applications include producing custom punches, blanking dies, bushings, cams, and wear strips.
