The STARRETT 55069 is a low carbon steel flat stock bar measuring 24 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 1.5 inches thick. Manufactured to AISI Type C1018 specification, this material offers consistent machinability and weldability suited to general fabrication, tooling, and structural applications. The bar is held to tight dimensional tolerances: plus or minus 0.001 inch on thickness and squareness, plus 0.000 to 0.005 inch on width, and plus 0.625 inch on length. Machinists, fabricators, and maintenance trades rely on C1018 flat stock as a predictable, readily workable raw material for custom parts, fixtures, and repair stock.
This flat bar is appropriate for job shop fabrication, maintenance and repair operations, and light structural applications where a machinable, weldable low carbon steel is specified. It is commonly used in machine shops, industrial maintenance facilities, and fabrication shops for making brackets, keys, wear plates, spacers, and similar components. The 24-inch length is a standard cut suitable for benchtop work or further processing on a band saw, mill, or lathe.
Designed as a general-purpose C1018 low carbon steel flat bar for use in fabrication, tooling, and maintenance applications requiring a machinable mild steel stock.
This is raw material stock intended for cutting, machining, welding, or forming by qualified machinists or fabricators. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and machine guarding when cutting or milling. Edges and cut ends may be sharp — deburr before handling or fitting. Store flat on a level surface to prevent warping or distortion.
