The STARRETT 54882 is a low carbon steel flat stock bar cut to 24 inches in length, 0.75 inches wide, and 0.094 inches thick (3/32 inch). Manufactured to Type C1010 material specification, this flat stock offers consistent dimensional accuracy with tightly controlled tolerances: plus or minus 0.001 inch on thickness and square, plus 0.000 to 0.005 inch on width, and plus 0.625 inch on length. Weighing approximately 0.47 pounds per piece, it is suited for layout, fabrication, shimming, and general metalworking applications. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, maintenance technicians, and fabricators rely on this stock for tasks requiring repeatable, close-tolerance raw material.
This flat stock is used in light fabrication, maintenance shops, and industrial facilities where low carbon steel bar stock is cut, drilled, bent, or welded to produce brackets, shims, spacers, and structural supports. Its C1010 composition provides good machinability and weldability. The 24-inch length suits bench work and short-run fabrication without the need for additional cut-down. Sold individually, it is appropriate for single-piece jobs or prototype work.
Designed as a general-purpose low carbon steel flat stock for use in fabrication, maintenance, and metalworking applications where Type C1010 material is specified.
Handle and cut using standard metalworking tools appropriate for low carbon steel, including band saws, cold saws, or angle grinders with appropriate blades. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment during cutting, grinding, and welding operations. Deburr all cut edges before use in assemblies. Store flat to prevent warping or surface contamination.
