The STARRETT 52610 is a telescoping gage designed for measuring inside diameters, bores, and slots in precision mechanical and trade work. It features a spring-loaded plunger that locks at the measured dimension, allowing the tech to transfer the reading to a micrometer or caliper for a precise measurement. The gage covers a range of 5/16 to 1/2 inch and has an overall length of 3-1/8 inches with a 2-3/8 inch handle. The satin chrome finish reduces glare and resists corrosion in shop environments. Machinists, millwrights, HVAC technicians, and plumbers use telescoping gages when checking bore wear, valve seats, and fitting clearances.
The STARRETT 52610 is suited for residential and light commercial service work where internal diameter measurements are required. It is commonly used when inspecting pump housings, bearing bores, pipe fittings, and valve bodies. The compact 3-1/8 inch overall length allows access to confined spaces. It is a hand tool intended for technicians who already own a micrometer or caliper capable of reading the transferred measurement.

No installation is required for this hand measurement tool. Before use, ensure the bore or surface to be measured is clean and free of debris that could affect the gage reading. Lock the plunger only after the gage has fully seated and sprung to the bore wall, then carefully withdraw without disturbing the locked position before transferring to the measuring instrument. Handle the gage with care to avoid dropping, which can damage the spring mechanism or affect calibration.
