The STARRETT 52588 is a hardened steel V-block designed for holding cylindrical workpieces securely during layout, inspection, and machining operations. It features a 90-degree V angle with a maximum V capacity of 1-5/16 inches (33.34 mm), making it suitable for a wide range of round stock diameters. The block ships as an individual unit and includes a clamp for positive workpiece retention. Machinists, toolmakers, and precision measurement technicians are the primary users of this type of block. The hardened steel construction resists wear and maintains dimensional accuracy under repeated use.
This V-block is used in machine shops, tool and die operations, and quality control environments where round parts must be held at a consistent reference point. It is well suited for scribing centerlines, checking runout, drilling, grinding, and surface plate inspection work. The included clamp secures stock during operations without the need for a separate clamping accessory. At 1-57/64 inches overall width and a compact overall height of approximately 1-7/8 inches, it fits standard surface plates and magnetic chucks with minimal footprint.
Designed as an OEM-style precision layout and inspection accessory for use with standard surface plates, granite inspection tables, and machine tool fixtures where cylindrical workpiece holding is required.
Place the V-block on a clean, flat reference surface before securing the workpiece with the included clamp. Machinists and toolmakers should verify the block seating surface is free of chips or burrs that could affect squareness. No power source is required for use. Inspect the block and clamp for wear or damage before precision measurement work to ensure accurate results.
