The STARRETT 50709 is an indicator snug accessory designed to securely mount dial indicators and test indicators to compatible Starrett gages, bases, and measuring instruments. The snug features a hole diameter of 0.3125 inches, providing a consistent and reliable clamping fit for indicator stems. Weighing 0.2 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight component used by machinists, quality control technicians, and tool room professionals to set up and transfer measurements with precision. It is a direct-fit accessory for use with specific Starrett height transfer gages, surface gages, back plunger indicators, universal dial indicators, and magnetic bases.
This indicator snug is suited for use in machine shop, inspection, and layout environments where repeatable indicator positioning is required. It is appropriate for both bench-top measurement setups and in-process gauging on machine tools. The snug is compatible with a defined set of Starrett instruments and is intended as a replacement or spare accessory component for those systems.
Designed for use with Starrett 252 Height Transfer Gages, 257A and 257B Surface Gages, 57A and 57B Surface Gages, 650, 651, 196 and 196M Back Plunger and Universal Dial Indicators, and the 657A Magnetic Base.
Installation is performed by machinists or metrology technicians familiar with Starrett indicator mounting systems. Ensure the indicator stem diameter matches the 0.3125-inch hole diameter of the snug before assembly. Secure all clamping hardware firmly before taking measurements to prevent indicator shift. Do not overtighten fasteners, as this may damage the indicator stem or snug body.
