The STARRETT 21573 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade built for demanding metal-cutting applications in professional shop and industrial environments. Measuring 150 inches long and 1-1/4 inches wide with a 0.042-inch thickness, this blade runs on horizontal and vertical band saws configured for that loop length. The M42 high-speed steel tooth material delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting ferrous metals and exotic steel alloys. Variable pitch tooth spacing at 3-4 TPI reduces vibration and harmonics during the cut, extending blade life and improving surface finish on structural sections and heavy-walled tubing.
This blade is suited for production and job-shop cutting of steel and exotic steel stock including bar, tube, and structural shapes. The Intenss PRO-VTH series targets shops running high-output sawing where blade longevity and consistent cut quality are priorities. The raker tooth set and positive rake angle promote aggressive chip clearance, making the blade effective on thick cross-sections where chip packing is a concern. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and fabricators maintaining band saws in production or maintenance settings.
Designed as a direct-fit welded replacement blade for band saws accepting a 150-inch loop length with a 1-1/4-inch blade width. Verify wheel spacing, blade guides, and drive wheel capacity before installation.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance technician should install band saw blades following the saw manufacturer's tensioning and tracking procedures. Power down and lockout the band saw completely before opening the blade guards or handling the blade. Use appropriate blade-handling gloves — the toothed edge presents a laceration hazard even when the saw is off. Confirm blade tension and tracking alignment before resuming cuts, and inspect blade welds periodically per shop safety protocols.
