The STARRETT 20799 is a professional-grade electronic digital caliper designed for precise dimensional measurement in shop, field, and maintenance environments. It measures from 0 to 8 inches (0 to 200 mm) with a resolution of 0.0005 inches and an accuracy of 0.0010 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance work across HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical trades. The body and jaws are constructed from hardened stainless steel for durability in demanding conditions. IP67-rated water and dust resistance allows use in wet or contaminated environments without compromising the electronics. Power comes from a single CR2032 lithium battery, which is included.
The 20799 is used for measuring outside diameters, inside diameters, and depth — covering the three most common caliper tasks in trade service work. The knife-edge jaw style handles irregular profiles and small-diameter tubing that standard flat jaws cannot reach cleanly. A dedicated inside diameter jaw set and a depth measurement rod are included, eliminating the need for separate gauges on a typical service call. Jaw adjustment is controlled by a thumb wheel for precise, repeatable positioning. This caliper is part of the STARRETT 798 series and suits licensed tradespeople who require a rugged, IP-rated measuring tool for field or shop use.
Part of the STARRETT 798 series. Designed as a standalone precision measuring tool; no system compatibility dependencies apply. Suitable for any trade application requiring 0 to 8 inch caliper measurement with IP67 environmental protection.
No permanent installation is required. Before use, verify the caliper zeroes correctly with jaws fully closed and the depth rod retracted. Replace the CR2032 battery by following the battery compartment access procedure in the manufacturer documentation — do not use a substitute battery chemistry, as it may affect accuracy or display performance. Store the caliper in the included case when not in use to protect the jaws and measurement surfaces.
