The STARRETT 20740 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications in industrial and fabrication environments. Measuring 15 feet in length and 1-1/4 inches wide, this blade features a 0.042-inch back thickness with a variable pitch of 5 to 8 teeth per inch. The Intenss PRO series design combines a flexible alloy steel back with high-speed steel teeth, delivering extended tooth life and consistent cutting performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Installed by machinists and metal fabricators, this blade handles production cutting cycles where blade longevity and cut quality matter.
This blade is suited for vertical and horizontal bandsaw machines capable of accepting a 15-foot, 1-1/4-inch-wide blade. The variable 5-8 TPI pitch pattern reduces harmonic vibration and improves chip evacuation during cuts through solid bar stock, structural shapes, and tubing in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The raker tooth set and positive rake angle promote aggressive, consistent stock removal in production or job-shop settings. It is not configured for contour cutting and is best applied to straight cuts on ferrous and non-ferrous metal workpieces.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with bandsaw blade tensioning and tracking procedures. Power down and lock out the bandsaw before removing the existing blade or installing this one. Verify that blade guides, wheel diameter, and wheel spacing are compatible with a 1-1/4-inch-wide blade before mounting. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended tensioning specifications for the blade width and material type being cut.
